You might be making one of these 3 mistakes, and t You might be making one of these 3 mistakes, and they’re adding to the perception that you’re not a leader.
When you grow up with Asian parents, you probably grew up valuing the whole and the collective, but it also might have created a negative cultural habit of putting everyone else first. And they are making you look less powerful at work.

Here are the 3 mistakes.
1️⃣ You say "I’m sorry" all the time. This immediately puts you in a position where you’re the less powerful person in the conversation. Save I’m sorry for genuine apologies.
2️⃣ You overexplain yourself. This takes up time, and also makes you look less powerful. People don’t need to hear how you got to yes or no, they just need to hear the answer. Give a simple yes or no.
3️⃣ You ask, "Is that OK?" When you ask for other people’s approval, you are giving your power away. So learn to cut this one out.
