Want me to hold your feet to the fire?

There’s a few facts to know today. Ready or not….here they come!

– It’s almost June.
– You’ve been at home for more than two months.
– The year is almost halfway over.

I hate to break it to you. I had to break it to myself. And it’s true.

Summer is practically here. Perhaps 2020 has flown by in a haze of flour and baking. Perhaps it’s dragged in a way you once thought impossible as you “handled” homeschooling. Perhaps your relationship to your phone, the news and social media has taken on a life of its own and you just can’t stop.

If you’ve struggled the last two months, I get it. I’m not here to judge. I won’t ever, I promise you.

I also am honest. Direct. I cut to the chase.

Here’s the truth — YOU have a choice in how you experience your life, whether it’s staying at home, or choosing to go out.

You have a choice today to get up off the couch. You have the choice today to use your legs to go outside. You have the choice today to turn your face up to the sunshine. You have a say, right now, to feel better.

How, you ask?

You start somewhere. Turn off Instagram. Read a book instead of the news. List 3 things you’re grateful for.

Look, I am not advocating you stick your head in the sand and ignore what’s going on around you.

I also know that the world does not get better with you in a state of stress and anxiety about the unknown.

Know how the world gets better?

When you feel better. When you choose to feel grateful. When you decide to prioritize reconnecting to yourself.

I’m here to tell you that you CAN feel good, inspired, and optimistic about the future.

There, I said.

OPTIMISTIC.

I mean it. You being optimistic will make all the challenges of the last few months worth it. You knowing you have what it takes to navigate whatever life throws at you is what will show you the learning. You seeing a way forward that reveals a new understanding of yourself is how you will emerge on the other side.
